FORTIS FAQs

Our live timetable can be accessed here. You’ll be able to book your FIRST FREE TRIAL CLASS here too!
- 02
Yes! All of our class coaches are available for Personal Training. We also have a couple of specialist trainers working from FORTIS (e.g. Calisthenics, Sports Specific). Please fill in our enquiry form here to register your interest and share your training goals, interests and availability. From there, we'll be in touch to set up an Initial Consultation with one of our brilliant trainers.
- 03
All of our classes are coach-led and totally adaptable for whatever level of fitness you are at right now. Your class coach will be on hand to guide you through all elements of the class, tailoring the workout to you. In other words, you're ready!
- 04
We completely get it. It can be very intimidating, walking into a new gym environment where everyone looks like they know what they're doing. But we promise you, we're here to make that first step into FORTIS a safe and empowering one. Our members are amazing - truly. They and your class coach will welcome you, make the workout accessible and want you to leave feeling better than you did when you walked in.
A great place to start for many is some one-to-one Personal Training with one of our coaches, to ease into training in the space and gain confidence in the movements that will likely come up in classes. Our WOMEN'S ONLY classes - which run twice a week on their own membership - could also be a fantastic option.
If you are an expectant or new mum, why not check out our BUMPS & BABIES programme, ran by Coach Steph?
However you choose to start, you belong here.
- 05
Your first class is free to try! Simply head here for booking instructions. At your trial class you’ll be able to chat to the class coach about your training options at FORTIS.
- 06
Great! You can view all of our package and membership options here.
- 07
No. Classes can be booked on a pay-as-you-go basis, by booking in as a DROP IN at £10.00 per class. Head here to book a DROP IN.
- 08
Classes are capped between 7 and 20, depending on the class style. This is to ensure plenty of contact time with your coach, helping you get the most out of your training.
- 09
Classes are bookable one month in advance via your FORTIS WodBoard account.
- 10
If a class you’re wanting to attend is fully booked, we highly recommend joining the waitlist and a space almost always comes available.
If the space comes available before 7:00pm the night before the class, you'll be added to the class in order of those on the waitlist. If the space comes available after 7:00pm the night before the class, you'll be sent a notification giving you the option to accept or turn down the available space.
- 11
We understand that life happens and sometimes it may be necessary to cancel your class space. Where possible, please try to do so at the earliest possible opportunity to free up the class space for others.
If a booking is cancelled before 7:00pm the night before a booked class, your account will be credited. This will be in the form of a credit note for Drop Ins for re-use at a later date, a return of the credit to a 12 CLASS PASS user or 10 CLASSES PER MONTH membership holder, and no penalty for an UNLIMITED CLASSES PER MONTH membership holder.
If a booking is cancelled after 7:00pm the night before a booked class, the value of the class credit will be lost or a £5.00 account charge will be issued for UNLIMITED CLASSES PER MONTH membership holders.

We love to welcome friends of FORTIS members! Like yours, their first class is free to try too; with flexible DROP IN (pay per class) and membership options available for all. They'll too need to book in here to ensure a class space.
- 13
We encourage you to bring a water bottle to class. A water fountain is available in the gym for refills. Bringing a small sweat towel is advisable too. Please come dressed in suitable training kit and footwear, ready to participate at the class start time. Toilets are available on site, but we don’t have changing facilities within the gym itself.
- 14
We don't. FORTIS is in a barn on a farm - literally! Our unit is a former grain store, lovingly transformed into a beautiful functional fitness space. But we don't have any shower facilities. We've got two toilets on site - not the most glamorous ones! But they do the job, and are spacious enough for a quick outfit change if heading to the gym straight from work.
- 15
We don't. Our facility isn't big enough to facilitate our group training programme and an Open Gym offering. You can access our timetabled classes six days per week, work with our trainers one-to-one and get involved in our packed events calendar.
- 16
The minimum age to attend a FORTIS class solo is 18.
16 - 18 year olds can attend class with a participating parent/carer, who is responsible for the teen during the class. The teen should book onto classes with their own FORTIS account, following the usual booking procedure.
Our KIDS & TEENS CLUB is accessible to youngsters in School Years 5 - 11. Our current weekly timetable looks like:
